With only three wins in the last ten the crisis continues for the Wratts. Having lost both Read and Harrington to Peterborough United the Wratts need to find a new way to play, prompting an experimental line up for the first half with Child promoted to midfield, Sendall wide on the left and Captain Hayes unexpectedly left out. The Wratts made the worst possible start, with the defence in tatters Brown made a valiant attempt to block a powerful strike, it looked like he may have put it over the bar but without quite enough height on it the Rowdies took an early lead. Child put in a good performance in midfield but his pace at the back was badly missed. The Wratts continued to develop some good build up play despite not fully utilising the space Sendall had on the left but as usual this tends to suck players forward making them vulnerable to the long ball and without pace at the back this can be catastrophic and Rowdies took full advantage scoring twice more before half time, the Wratts only saved from further embarrassment by the offside flag. All change at half time, Hayes who had replaced Wilson because of injury in the first half was moved back to the centre of midfield and with Warnock on the left, Sendall on the right and Child back in defence the team immediately looked more balanced. The Wratts stepped up the pressure but with something of a force field around the goal somehow Rowdies resisted until boulton brought down wide on the right won a free kick. A quality delivery from Sendall flicked on by Biggs for Hayes to head in. For a moment it looked like there might be something still in this game but with a marauding run down the right brushing Finn aside Rowdies again punished the Wratts for a high line. The Wratts can take consolation from winning the second half. Biggs taking the alternative route from a short corner driving along the bye-line before drilling the ball across the face of the goal where Hayes was positioned for the simplest of finishes. Man of the match, Jack Child.
